ORGANIZING PUBLIC DIALOGUE FORUMS

The Ethiopian Economics Association has a culture of organizing public forums with the objective of creating a conducive environment for the interaction of policy makers and the general public. The best known regular forums include:

International Conference on the Ethiopian Economy

The Ethiopian Economics Association has a long history of organizing annual conferences where research papers on the Ethiopian economy were presented. In due course the national conference was transformed to international conference on the Ethiopian Economy to enable the participation of international researchers working on Ethiopia. Accordingly, ten International Conferences were organized in the past ten years. The papers presented were written by individual researchers and partner institutions such as IFPRI, EDRI, USAID/HSFRP, EPPIICA, UNDP, PANE, Young Lives Ethiopia, FSS, WP, UNCEF, etc. were interdisciplinary. These Conferences were attended by policy makers, NGO representatives, experts from government ministries and other organizations, academicians and researchers from different universities, international organizations, etc. On average, more than 80 papers were presented and more than 400 participants attended each of the conferences.
