Brief description about the project Why the project Institutional viability Finance for the project Training institute and graduate program The Ethiopian Economic Association, since its establishment in 1991 has been involved in organizing trainings, workshops, conferences (including international conferences) in order to contribute to the economic advancement of the country. In the year 2000 it established the Ethiopian Economic Policy Research Institute (EEPRI) in order to do policy related research that would enhance our knowledge on the Ethiopian Economy and thus contribute to the overall economic development of the country. The institution has now more than 25 employees of which over 60% are highly trained professionals and researchers. The EEA and the institute currently have over 3 million birr annual budget supported by a consortium of donors including DFID of the UK, NORAD of Norway, SIDA of Sweden, Freidrch Ebert Stiftung, DCI of Ireland, NDC of the Netherlands, and the African Capacity Building Foundation(ACBF).The institute also does paid consultancy to raise funds for its eventual financial independency. Having analyzed the need for highly trained professional
in management and economics, the EEA has embarked on a project to establish
a high caliber graduate program in business management and economics in
partnership with an international educational institution. Through all
these experience, the expenditures it incurs to rent conference and to
provide an adequate and specialized venue for its new projects the EEA
has confirmed the need to have its own building. In addition to housing
its various institution, the building is designed to increase the EEA’s
income by renting the commercial space, the conference venue and the multi
purpose hall to outside clients. |
