The Ethiopian Economics Association (EEA) and its Bahir Dar Chapter that is housed at Bahir Dar University have co-organized the Second Annual Conference on the Amhara Regional State Economic Development at Bahir Dar. The one day Annual Conference will be held on 14th August, 2010 at Amhara Regional State Bureau of Finance and Economic Development Conference Hall starting from 8:30 a.m.
The First Annual Conference on the ANRS Economic Development was successfully held on the 15th August, 2009 here in Bahir Dar at the Amhara Regional State Bureau of Finance and Economic Development Conference Hall. The conference attracted about 120 participants drawn from Regional Bureaus, Universities, NGOs, private sector representative and EEA members in the region. In the one day conference 8 papers were presented and discussion was held. The proceeding of the conference was published and is under dissemination in the region and in other parts of the country.
Like the First Annual Conference, the Second Annual Conference on ANRS Economic Development is believed to create an opportunity for better understanding of the region's socioeconomic development. In this conference, about 8 papers that focused on the regional economic issues will be presented by individual researchers. Moreover, we except institutions from the region will present papers on specific thematic areas (Poverty, Structural Transformation and Rural Development).
