The 7 th International Conference on the Ethiopian Economy was organized from June 25 to 27, 2009 at the EEA Multi-purpose Building Conference Center . The event attracted high turnout of the participants, papers presenters and session organizing institutions. The conference was attended by about 420, 238 and 252 participants during the first, second and third days of the conference, respectively. All in all, 74 papers were presented in seven plenary and five parallel sessions. Of the total paper presented at the three day conference, 19 papers were presented by secession organizers that include World Bank, Future Agriculture, EDRI, IFPRI, RiPPLE, Economics Department of AAU, Young Lives Study and Ethiopian Development Research Institute. The remaining 55 papers were presented by individual researchers. Form the evaluation feedbacks; the organizing committee has obtained that in terms of venue, organization of the conference (program design, timing of invitations and conference materials), topics covered, participation, etc., the organization of the conference rated as the most successful one ever. Generally, the successful conclusion of the Conference is expected to improve relationship between the Association and Government and other stakeholders; raised the capacity of EEA members, academia and researchers; and improves the knowledge of participants on the socio–economic situation of the country. |
